If I have ..., I will ....

If I have ...., I will .... I have heard this many times in my life. Often, I heard it from someone who has just missed an opportunity which would have brought him/her a great reward. Too often, these people continue to think about the opportunity missed. What they don't realize is that a lot of different opportunities have gone passed their sides and they were too busy thinking about the one opportunity that they missed.

There is only so much one can do about their past but there are a lot of things that one can do for their future. If one can't let go of his/her past, the past will keep repeating itself and the new opportunity will never be seen.

Life doesnot always turn out to be the way you planned

The first time I heard of this quote was when I was watching the movie, "While you were sleeping". At that time, I was in my junior year in Oklahoma State University for my undergrad degree. The reason why this quote strucked me was because I never thought I would go to college and get a degree.

I came from a small town in Malaysia where majority of my schoolmates were either got into local polytechnic colleges or started working after high school. I wasn't the brightest kid in my class and I didn't expect myself to do anything extra ordinary. After my high school graduation, the only thing I could think of is to get a job and buy a car. Owning a nice car was like having a higher social status in my hometown and it's a must to get a girlfriend. At that time, that seems to be the logical thing to do. Luckily, my parents gave me a chance to do something different. Though, it seems like it's the hardest thing to do but I went with it, just to give it a chance. Today, 13 years later, I see the difference.

Although life doesn't really turn out the way I planned, I feel very lucky to end up where I am today. Now, I have a wonderful wife, a good job, and the freedom to do almost anything I want. It's all because of my parents who gave me that one chance. If it wasn't because of them, my life would be totally different.
